"Modifying and Enhancing your Global Offensive Experience"
 
Welcome. A couple of people have asked me, how they are able to become better at Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Therefore, I decided to make a guide about how I improved, without doing anything aim, gamesense or teamwork related. People that have played with me and/or against me, know that my aim is not extremely good, yet I still managed to get "The Global Elite" rank on multiple accounts.
 

 

 

 

 

A lot of my improvement (and increased amounts of fun) during the 2000+ total hours I've played came from certain modifications and enhancements to and with the game. A list of topics I will be telling you about during this guide are listed below

• Launch options
• Fonts
• Binds
• Commands

Launch options
Valve their definition: "Game launch options can be used to change game settings before running the game. Launch options allow the user to supercede internal settings of the game. This is an effective means to recover from incompatible video settings and well as troubleshooting a wide range of issues."
 
Where can you locate the launch options?

• Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.
• Under the General tab click the Set launch options button.
• Enter the launch options you wish to apply (be sure to separate each code with a space) and click OK.
• Close the game's Properties window and launch the game.

Launch options are extremely useful, because they allow you to run the game in a way that suits your PC better. A list of what I think are useful launch options can found below

Most used

• -console (Open console on start up)
• -novid (Removes intro videos)
• -windowed (Plays the game in windowed mode)
• -noborder (Removes the windowed mode borders)
• -noipx (Disable IPX protocol)*
• -nojoy (Disable joystick)
• -noforcemaccel (Disable game interference with mouse acceleration)
• -noforcemparms (Disable game interference with custom binded keys)
• -high (High priority)
• -refresh 120 (Force monitor refresh rate to 120hz, another option could be 144hz)
• -freq 120 (Force monitor refresh rate to 120hz, another option could be 144hz)
• -threads 4 (Force CS:GO to use 4 cores)
• +exec autoexec (Execute your CFG on startup)

Optional

• +mat_vignette_enable 0 (Disable vignetting)**
• +mat_queue_mode 2 (Force the game to use all your cores)
• -nod3d9ex (Use DirectX 9Ex to render Windows processes)

*  Internet Package Exchange (IPX)
** Vignetting means the dimness on the screen its edges.
 

 

 

 

Fonts
This is really fun way to spice up your fanciness of Global Offensive. By placing a font in the correct folder (path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\resource\flash) you are able to change the font of your hud in-game. This way you can also change its color. Just a really cool feature that just upgrades your game its fanciness.

Binds
Binds are extremely useful to quickly be able to perform an action. Since generally shooters are action packed, a faster reaction is better than a slower one. By binding keys you are able to perform "shortcuts" basically, which allows you to potentially upgrade your "way of play".
 
There are three binds that I make use of during my gameplay. The first one is a bind that triggers the game instructor messages. These messages provide instructions to "beginner" players. For instance, they tell you how to pick up a weapon. However, they also tell you at what bombsite the bomb is planted as soon as it goes down. If you are playing de_dust2 for instance and you're at top mid or t-spawn as a CT and you need to know exactly where the bomb is planted, to begin your legendary retake. By triggering these on when you hear a voice say "The bomb has been planted." you are able to always get a 100% read as to whether bomb has been at A or B.

The second one is for bunny hopping (bhopping). "Bhopping is a term used in video games to describe an advanced movement technique in which a player jumps repeatedly, with the addition of strafing using the directional keys and strafe-jumping, in order to become a harder target to hit or (in some games) move faster than normal."
 
A bhop can only be perfomed if you jump at the exactly right timing. For a full scale "How to BHOP tutorial" I recommend using YouTube. By binding the action to jump to your mousewheel it becomes easier to gain the correct timing.

P.S. If you want to start bhopping perfectly straight away, talk to StefanVII and ask him if he can give you a copy of his "bhop script".

 

The last bind is a "buy bind". It automatically buys a gun or a grenade for instance. You can create your own buy binds using this website: CS:GO-Buynds.

 

 

Commands
These are just as useful as binds. For instance, there is a command that allows you to nullify mouse acceleration. I find this very useful, because without mouse acceleration the movement of the mouse and the movement of the crosshair will be 1:1. I've set together a list of the commands I use below

Furthermore, you can play around with:

• snd_headphone_pan_exponent (Increases the loudness of sounds coming from far away)
• snd_headphone_pan_radial weight (It changes how close your crosshair has to be to something for the sound to sound like it is coming from straight ahead)

 

 

 

Simple Radar
Simple Radar: "Knowing the position of your enemy is, undoubtedly, a huge advantage. Simple Radar has high contrast color scheme and is geometrically accurate - features that will aid you in becoming more aware of your surroundings."
 
Basically, what it does is, it changes your minimap. It makes it more clear where you are, by mapping everything in great detail. Plus, it adds all of the in-game its community "call-outs" on the main map, that can be opened during the game using the default "M" key. I recommend checking Simple Radar out, as it will improve your way of communicating, in a better and more understandable way for your teammates.

Digital Vibrance
Last but not least, an important factor of my gameplay nowadays is "Digital Vibrance". It changes the saturation of the game its colors. This makes the game look "brighter". It will make it easier for you to spot the CT their dark clothing through for instance, molotov grenades and smoke grenades.
 

 
How to install? I recommend using this guide: "SEE YOUR ENEMIES EASIER VibranceGUI"
The guide is about a program called "VibranceGUI", which I use. It toggles the vibrance level of your game at start up. You are able to set your vibrance level from 0 to 200%. I recommend using 200% digital vibrance. Some people will be able to improve their digital vibrance just by adjusting their graphics card settings, however if you are looking to use that method I would recommend consulting Google.
