Okay, so me and my dad agreed, that I should get a new PC, due to mine being 3 years old, and quite out dated. and here's what i've come up with! Around a £500 budget.

Use your old DVD/CD drive from your old pc? at least then you can get a better GPU

No point in dropping the Optical drive, due to it only being £11. But i've dropped the OS, and will probably crack it like you said.

Well i don't know what you want to do in terms of gaming (hardcore or softcore gamer) but that GPU is fine for most games to date, can run games at ultra no problem (few exceptions of like ghosts, metro last light etc.) you can still run them but will have minor jittering; this is on ultra ofcourse, it's quite a good build for only £500 budget but i do recommend some cooling. Maybe a cooler master hyper 212 or as zalman cnps9700
