Cod4 Deathrun server redirect issue.

Hello Raid peoples! I have a quick issue that maybe someone has come across before and can help me :)

 

So, I bought a deathrun server just for me and friends. I tried to setup the redirect that came with it, but it would just download from the gameserver ftp making it 2 K/B per seconds. I don't know what the issue is because I put the fast dl link in the server.cfg and uploaded my files to the http redirect. I was wondering if anyone can guess what I did wrong.

Can't help without seeing what you put in the server config and the website link to where your downloads are.

Err. All i got was the url(same as my ftp) and my ftp has three folders. Update, gameserver, and httpd. I uploaded all my files to the httpd from my gameserver. Am I missing anything?

I also tried making my own redirect(since i think it might be the url) and it still didn't work. I know I must be doing something wrong.

Right click the cod4 folder -> file permissions -> 777 -> apply to all.

Should work.

You're absolutely correct. Meant to use 777 to test if it works, I avoid using 777 as well.

I would check your server host and ask if they can change the permissions for you.

Thanks Thomas. Hopefully they will respond. I dont know. I had a ticket and they asked me if i uploaded the files. (which i did)

Well it looks like you're very restricted so it's probably best to ask your host about these issues.

Option #1

Check to see if you have a file named .htaccess anywhere in your redirect. If you have one, please post it so I can see what's inside of it

This may be highly insecure, never tested it. By using the FTP protocol, you can access files with a username and password.

 

Ex. ftp://user:password@ftpserver/url-path

 

So, working example would be ftp://usernameforfilezilla:[email protected]:port/panel/393

 

*Have no idea if Cod4 even supports FTP protocol, I give no guarantees at all if this will let everyone see your ftp information, or if it will even work. Can anyone confirm if it will work or not?

CoD4 does support FTP redirects, however if the DL fails, users have the ability to see the username and password of the FTP via console or something, not quite sure since I've never tested it. 

 

The issue here is not that your files aren't uploaded, they're just uploaded in the wrong directory. The location you have them uploaded to currently has forbidden access, but one of the other ones don't. It's just a matter of finding which one doesn't. You should ask your host for more help on uploading to the FTP, and you should ask them which is the directory that anonymous users have download access too, which would be the best for the redirect. Good luck!

Thanks Cat! Will do that now. That will probably be the solution.
