I need some serious help...

Ok so a few days ago i tried to open cod 4. For some reason it did open but i couldn't see the game i was just looking at my desktop? Although i could here the game running. I tried restarting my computer, I downloaded a fresh iw3mp.exe, I downloaded a new fresh cfg. Nothing worked. So i then deleted cod 4 and re installed it assuming it would be fine now. Nope, same problem. What i can do.. is open up compile tools and run a selected map, Then leave and join a server. But as soon as i try to put into full screen, My screen goes black and right back to looking at my desktop. I even tried opening up other games... and i have the same problem. Please help me! I'm sick of scratching my head i just want to play deathrun!

May seem a bit random, but try plugging in a mic and then starting it

Had that problem too with a few games with my old 760, i had to change the resolution, but i dont have this problem anymore since i have my r9 280x. Also, make sure your graphic drivers are up to date.
