Windows 10

32 posts in this topic

Hello there,

I just read at the Dutch Telegraph online about Windows 10 that is coming out today or is already out for someone. And I read that you should NOT install it trough Windows update because of your privacy.

For the Dutch people read it here!: http://www.consumentenbond.nl/internet-privacy/extra/windows-10-privacy/

For the English understanders!: http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2373838/microsofts-windows-10-preview-has-permission-to-watch-your-every-move

And

So the best option is to do a simply clean install from Windows 10, make a bootable USB or burn it on a DVD from 4.7 GB or a duallayer dvd and turn at the install the crap privacy things off. I don't know if it's real disabled but better then nothing, I find this really ridiculous what Microsoft did with all that overwatch, they shouldn't even be doing this but ok, so yeah be aware.

You don't read, do you? You're required to upgrade before you can perform a clean install or you won't have a license.

As a sidenote, who uses DVDs to install Windows? You can just mount the ISO to a virtual drive an run the setup from there.

Edit: You do realise the purpose of all this data collection is to improve the product you're using, right? How else are they going to iron out all bugs and performance issues? Bug reports? Yeah sure, most people don't bother reporting anything and just complain about it on random forums instead of help Microsoft fix it.

If you're really bothered with it, you can just turn it off anyway...
