Throw the map idea's to me!

Wing wing herrow,

 

I will start making a map again as I'm interested to do again. Yes blablabalbla I'm a bad mapper but this time I hope it will be different, I will try to improve the map time by time and listen to the suggestions and try to finish the map this time.

 

As the other maps are corrupted I'm not in the mood to finish them.

 

Anyways, the map theme is "Live or Die". Help me thinking of some idea's, fun traps that aren't too diffecult too make since I'm a nooby scripter. And I won't add any custom characters or weapons in the map because custom deathrun mods won't be able to load them as the server will crash then. Also give maybe links for textures if you have a suggestions for this texture for inside the map maybe ?

 

I will update the Topic time by time with the story idea and the to do idea list. Let me know about your idea's !

 

Lossy, Staab, Troll and all others ex mappers, please make a map again as well to have a great old feelings back :)

Alright let's get into this *cracks knuckles*, I've got quite a few ideas that on paper sound quite cool but I just never end up getting round to making them in practise, these are all deathrun map ideas btw^

 

So my first idea would be a prison(Alcatraz), you may say this has been done before, BUT! Not like how I'm picturing it. You start off in like a cell and it would be sort of dark(the warm up time) after that the time was over, the screen would be brighten up and your cell door would open, to make this fair for every player there would be say 15 cells. I'm picturing it similar to mob of the dead on black ops 2 zombies, if you've played that^.

The activator would act as a warden in a sense so traps would be fairly unique, cell doors falling on your head, electricity wires dangling down from the ceiling and would shock you if you touched them etc, various prison hazards.

So Start in a cell > Down a dark grim hallway > Navigate around a dinner hall/dining hall > eventually reach warden's office and kill him, simples! But if you where to have a crack at this, please make it creepy, ambient scream sounds, make it feel like you are in a prison

Next idea: Underwater perhaps? This would require shit tons of effort if you were to actually try it, I'm picturing it similar to Leviathan from WaW, which is executed pretty well. I'm thinking of the activator acting as the overseer of the underwater base that you would be in, he would control door's opening and closing so you would run out of oxygen, parts of the base just collapsing and becoming full of water so you would drown, could be pretty fun

I don't think this next idea has been done, but perhaps a casino? It would be pretty fucking cool if you had to navigate around like poker tables avoid machines falling on your heads and you could genuinely make it unique if you actually tried to make if you tried haha. But nevertheless the traps could be very centric to the theme aswell with very chilled music, perhaps come calm jazz in the background of the map :dave:. Check out hotel from black ops 1, since that seems to perfect it^

What if someone made a map that was Pirate themed. You would jump from ship to ship and go through the different levels and decks of the ships. Seems cool to me. What do you guys think?

Map theme is liveordie, not pirate.

Ok so the map is gonna be like this:

 

It will be prison-ish, but minimum.

 

Map is based on decissions, choose to live or to die. For example, you take this door, you will die or go into that direction, you could end up falling in a gap and die or I will say jump here and he will die, or splitsing ways etc.

 

Any idea's for my map idea are welcome, don't make it too hard for me as I'm a nubie mapper xD

You should make it like verrukt. There will be 2 groups of jumpers in selerate rooms,etc. Maybe at some point the jumpers could be reunited

Cant get a very good impression because its 90% caulk but the geometry looks somehow decent, but only for the love of god please make the bars of the cells into a terrain patch with texture.

The security bars are a circle patch?.. or which picture do you mean ?

The second picture. Yes I know that are circle patches. And thats the problem basicly. They look nice, but are using a lot of resources which could be used elsewhere. Thats the points I wanted to make.

Just a terrain patch with a me_floor_metalgratingparralel texture or something like that, maybe scale it a little bit larger.

I'll have you know that he created one of the most amazing and detailed deathrun maps ever, slender

So astounding in fact that it should be added once more to the deathrun server

That looks nice, but how can I make it without having gaps on the sides and that the other side is invinsible??

make it a patch.
