Adobe After Affects MAIN PURPOSE (not all purposes) is to edit a video that already exists, hence the name AFTER, EFFECTS.

 

And Cinema 4D main purpose is for creating graphical pieces whether they be images or videos and starting from fresh, although this also has other purposes.
