[Remake] 1st DR Map - Darkness (deathrun_chamber1)

So yeah, my [now] 2 day project which is a HD remake of classical and officialy first deathrun map "mp_deathrun_darkness" is almost over, blah blah blah blah, here are the pics:

Rate, learn, and stop making shitty maps < that remake is actually 2 days work so please stop making shitty excuses and don't post download links to yo broken, buggy maps.

Just saying though, not everyone has been mapping as long as you, so it takes some people longer to figure out how to add detail if you know what I mean, not starting a rant just stating something :P

Oh just so you know, this map is VERY small, she has put detail everywhere you look and it makes the map look bigger, you guys make huge map to add like 10 traps where braxi makes a small map with like 7 traps.

Nabs using map experience as excuse, you all can do that stuff, stop being lazy. If you notice the base structure isn't hard to do at all.... 2 days is about right tbf

 

half the maps created claim to have a 'theme' but it's usually just same scheme all the way through, 4 walls, same textures so detail will be hard.

You're right, it's not hard to do most of that stuff. But the thing new mappers normally struggle with is the placement of it, or they add it in the wrong place and think: "Oh that looks awful, I'll just leave it", instead of trying to make it work. Long story short, they don't have enough patience or commitment to do things properly.

 

Another problem with new mappers is that a LOT of dr maps nowadays have basically no detail, therefore setting the standard extremely low. For example, mp_dr_slay is played a lot on the server yet has hardly any detail (no offense to JR, it's a well made map just lacks some detail). So people see Slay and think: "Well if this map has no detail and gets played a lot, why can't mine?". It's a viscous loop.

yea, it's just that when people say like, 'teach me how to map' and they say how do you do such good detail it literally is like :facepalm:

 

but anyhow, as for the topic. GJ Braxi, it's looking good although i've never played the map so i don't know what it's like in terms of gameplay.

The sad thing is, the maps which have taken the most time, dedication and contain the greatest amount of detail are the ones that are neglected and left to rot. There's just no incentive for people to put such detail into their maps if it's just going to be discarded and labelled a map with low fps.

I said this before, most people play the maps that have less detail blah blah because they like nice, fun easy maps. Hence why I made dawn, I could have took my time and made a well detailed map, but i chose not too.

The sad thing is, the maps which have taken the most time, dedication and contain the greatest amount of detail are the ones that are neglected and left to rot. There's just no incentive for people to put such detail into their maps if it's just going to be discarded and labelled a map with low fps.

Then can grab ATI Radeon 4xxxx or 5xxx gpu for less than 30$ and a core2duo E4xxx CPU for 5$ and run CoD4 with all settings maxed out and play with decent fps or just skip playing my map :dave:

 

Just for people to know, these dvars will be ULTIMATELY forced on Raid server @ chamber1 map:

  • r_detail 1
  • sm_enable 1
  • r_zfeather 1
  • r_dlightlimit 4

Edit: tweaked existing traps and added 2 completly new and unique traps, one of these new traps is all about the trust to your team mates, 0 bounces or strafes :dave:
