Author: TheMookster ( http://cod4.gamebanana.com/tuts/6658 ) Edited A lot By: Zack (Just to make it a bit more up to date, this was originally posted 5 years ago.) Recently, I've been hearing a lot of talking about people wanting to learn how to map, or how to get the compile tools in general, so, here's a guide/tutorial to help you install them: To install the Compile Tools, firstly you need to have the COD4 Modern Warfare Game installed, and updated to at least version 1.4, (now on 1.7) preferably in your "C" drive, on your PC (As far as I know, the mapping tools do not work in Vista, although some users have reported some success running them in Windows XP Compatibility Mode.) Next do a search for: Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Mod Tools ( http://callofduty.filefront.com/file/Call_of_Duty_4_Modern_Warfare_Mod_Tools;85947 ) and unzip the files to your Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare directory. This is where you installed the game to. Next you will want to make shortcuts on your desktop to the following applications: [gamepath]\bin\CoD4CompileTools\CoD4CompileTools.exe and [gamepath]\bin\CoD4Radiant.exe. These are the only three applications that you should have shortcuts to, or run directly from explorer. The other exe files not listed above are not intended to be ran directly because they require special working directory and/or command line options. CoD4CompileTools.exe contains proper icons to launch those applications. RUNNING THE TOOLS for the FIRST TIME: When running CoD4CompileTools for the first time you must click the "browse" button in the upper left corner of the "Preferences" tab and browse to the location the game is installed. When running CoD4Radiant for the first time you will be prompted to load a project file. You will need to load the included cod4.prj project file which is located in "[gamepath]\bin". When running Effects Editor for the first time, you will be asked to browse to the location the game is installed also. For specific mapping help or tutorials, go to the wiki website for the CoD4 Modtools: ( http://wiki.modsrepository.com/index.php?title=Call_of_Duty_4:_mapping_mp ) A lot of this is a large learning process for someone who has never mapped before, so stick with it. Feel free to search the internet for answers when you get stuck, and don't be afraid to ask. Make sure to save your maps regulary, under different names, ie: mp_deathrun_map1, mp_fnrp_shitmap (lul), etc, then if you make a mistake you can go back without losing the whole map, and probably weeks of work. Well, i'll leave it to that, if you have any questions, you can ask me though PM, Xfire: zackthepanda, or just spam Darmuh and Lossy because they want to help you with every one of your problems! ( Lossy Xfire: xlossx and Darmuh Xfire: irroy8 ) Happy Mapping fgts! ;) USEFUL MAPPING TUTORIALS AND SUCH: MrXenonProductions: Basics of Radiant- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qW-DzS4_r5w Custom Textures- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaQ9wneau-c Custom FX- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39fEmqHtx-E Wiki-Modsrepository: (the shit) http://wiki.modsrepository.com/index.php?title=Call_of_Duty_4:_mapping_mp

http://www.zeroy.com/script I will continue to update this as time goes along, MAKE SURE to check out Darmuh's Guide to Making a Death Run Map it is really helpful, and I've learned quite a few things from it. Finally, I suggest never releasing your first map. Yes, many will say "Well! You did it! and so did Darmuh!" Well, Darmuh has said himself, that he regrets making Darmuh, and Darmuhv2, and for myself, well.. I cringe when I hear the word, "Velocity." But, anyways. Seeya.
